Who we are
The Happiness Farm is Bhutan’s first regenerative eco farm stay, and its first agro-based farm-to-table stay. Regenerative farming is at the heart of everything we do: we aim to leave the soil, water, forests and community healthier than we found them. We welcome farmers, students, colleges, researchers and anyone interested in agriculture and organic farming to learn with us. We believe everyone, and especially children and young people, should know where their food comes from and how much good, organic food matters for a healthy body. It sits in a quiet spot in Dogar, Paro, with a million-dollar view of the 17th-century Langka Monastery and the Genekha Valley. Our orchard of Japanese pears, apples and walnuts covers more than 4 acres, and our 3-star farm hotel has 8 wood-panelled rooms.
Our sister farm, The Happiness Farm in the Punakha Valley, grows more than 22 kinds of fruit and vegetables, including avocados, premium oranges, lemons, pineapples and dragon fruit. Together, the two farms supply our kitchen, so nearly everything our guests eat is grown by us. Everything is grown organically, and everything is done with love.
We are a family business focused on sustainable agriculture and community well-being. We combine traditional Bhutanese farming with new ideas, so that good food, a healthy environment and happy guests go hand in hand.
Vision
A sustainable future where farming works in harmony with nature and adds to the health and happiness of our communities. We want to be a model that inspires others to farm in an eco-friendly and socially responsible way.

Who we serve

- Schools, colleges, universities and institutions interested in agriculture, organic farming and environmental education

How we work
We sell directly to our guests and work with local partners. Our income comes from accommodation, meals, farm experiences, the Tree Membership, farming advice and educational programmes. Every part of the business is run to support sustainable farming.
Social responsibility
We take part in local food drives, work with non-profit groups on food security and sustainability, and open the farm for community gatherings and learning. Tree Members can donate their harvest to hospital patients, the Bhutan Kidney Foundation or monks at the Dobji Monastic School. Read our Sustainability and Empowerment Policy and Disability and Accessibility Policy.
Looking ahead
- More farm products: jams, preserves, dried fruit and fruit tea from our own harvest
- More learning: more educational programmes and community events
- Better technology: new sustainable farming tools to save water and energy
- Partnerships: working with schools to bring sustainability into the classroom
