Where it all began
It started with a steep, terraced hillside in Dogar, Paro, and a family that wanted to grow food the honest way. The first fields were turned by hand and with oxen, and the first fruit trees went into the ground that same year.
The orchard grows up
Year by year the young trees took hold. Pears, apples and plums filled the terraces, the first harvests went to market in crates, and the whole family learned the rhythm of the seasons.

Building living soil
We stopped thinking only about trees and started caring for the soil itself. Terraces were reshaped, compost was carried in by the truckload, and planting pits were dug by hand across the slopes. This is where our regenerative journey truly began.

Blessings and a new beginning
With prayers and the blessing of the monks, we broke ground for a farmhouse where guests could one day stay, eat and work with us.
The farmhouse opens its doors
The farmhouse was built with timber, stone and a lot of late nights. In 2023 The Happiness Farm welcomed its first guests as Bhutan’s first regenerative eco farm stay.
A farm full of friends
Today guests, students, volunteers and Tree Members plant with us, share our harvest and leave as family. The story is still growing, one tree at a time.
Come and become part of the next chapter.
