Tree Membership

The world’s first fruit tree membership, and a truly unique offering: adopt your own trees in our orchard in Dogar, Paro. Choose an apple and a Japanese pear tree, and you can adopt a walnut tree as well. We look after the trees, you enjoy the fruit, and your name stays rooted in Paro.

Trees are limited and offered first come, first served.

Your harvest

Pick the fruit from your own trees when you visit. If you cannot come, we donate your harvest for you to one of these:

  • Patients at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Thimphu
  • The Bhutan Kidney Foundation
  • Monks at the Dobji Monastic School, Paro
  • A school or charity of your choice
  • Back to The Happiness Farm, to help our community and the farm sustain themselves for the long term

Membership rules

  • Pick only from your own trees
  • Respect other members and the farm
  • Harvests vary from year to year
  • Join our annual members’ meeting if you can

You own the trees and their harvest for your chosen period; the membership does not include the land. Proceeds are reinvested in the farm and in local conservation projects.

Our Tree Members

Since 2023, 33 memberships from Bhutan, Canada, Germany, Japan, the UK and the USA. Many members give their harvest to monks, nuns, a dog shelter, the Bhutan Kidney Foundation or even the wild bears near the farm. Many others donate it back to The Happiness Farm, because they want our community and our sustainability work to thrive, and the farm to stand on its own feet financially for the long term. Thank you all.
